With around 320 days of sunshine each year the Javea area has a very appealing climate. Classified as 'near perfect' by the World Health Organisation the microclimate has proven very beneficial to many people with ailments. Javea, with it's three parts, the Casco Urbano (Old Town), Port and Arenal has something for everybody. The locals call it ' Amanecer de Espana, the ' dawn of Spain' because it occupies the most easterly point overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Javea is a working Port and is where people from many parts of northern Europe come to make their home. Javea's history includes the defeat of the Moors by King Jaime in 1244 and San Bartolome Church has an inner wall dating from this time. Javea has many fiestas starting with Los Reyes ( Three Kings) on the night of 5th January, through the Hogueras de San Juan in June, the Moors and Christians in July and the Port Fiesta in September.
