I assist in car hire and transport to/from airport. If you are arriving late in the day we can arrange a basic food package for you. The nearest bank/post office is 10 minutes drive. The old town of Mahon contains many restaurants and shops of all descriptions many supplying high quality leather goods, shoes and fashion. There is a cinema, theatre and art galleries. Sports facilities of every description including all watersports, tennis, riding and a cricket club! There is also a trotting racetrack. Aero-club and boat charter facilities. There are many important pre-historic monuments on the island. At the other end of the island, 40 minutes by car, you will find an equally attractive town called Ciutadella, the original capital, whose architecture was heavily influenced by the Moors. Menorca is a registered biosphere and as such there are many planning restrictions in order to keep the island as natural as possible. For example there is a nature reserve close to the villa called S'Albufera which is full of bird life and where you can spend a day walking and picnicking. As you would expect the waters around the island are extremely clear.
Distances
The supermarket is about 5 min walk, they stock English papers. Nearest beach 7/8 mins by car.
Cala Llonga bay now has a children's play area with climbing frames and is opposite the supermarket
Mahon center is 10 mins drive. Es Castell town is 20 mins drive.
The Fortress of Isabel II (La Mola) is just 5 mins drive or 30 mins walk.
Coast/Beach/Golf
Cala Llonga is situated on the north side of the waterway into Mahon Harbour and Marina. The Port of Mahon is one of the finest deep-water anchorages in Europe, with shops, restaurants and bars all around the harbour. The nearest beach is Cala Mesquida, a deep water bay, about 7 mins by car, or Es Grau, ideal for children, 10/15 mins by car, Son Bou, has a water park and a lovely golden beach, but the Island has approximately 120 beaches to choose from.
Menorca has one golf course. About a 20 mins drive. 18 holes, with restaurant and near a beautiful beach on the northeast side of the island, north of Mahón.
