The city of Edinburgh
Edinburgh is considered one of the most picturesque cities in Europe, due to its spectacular location and wonderful mixture of Medieval and Georgian architecture. Both the "old" and the "new" town areas are listed as UNESCO world heritage sites.
Edinburgh is the cultural heart of Scotland. Throughout August the city transforms into a centre of festivities; most famously playing host to the Edinburgh Fringe, Military Tattoo, Edinburgh International festival and the International Book festival.

Edinburgh has a great variety of historical attractions. The National Museum of Scotland showcases a wealth of treasures and heritage; from the remarkable preserved depths of the pre-historic, to Dolly the cloned sheep. There are a huge range of other museums, art galleries (including the National Gallery of Scotland) and historic buildings; notably Edinburgh castle and St. Giles Cathedral.

There are numerous theatres, cinemas, there are Scottish football and rugby stadiums within the ci and a vibrant night life.
Edinburgh zoo, a pioneer in penguin breeding, cares for a huge variety of creatures and has fantastic views across the city.
