Places of interest
From here, it is easy to visit the city of Malaga - beautiful with its magnificent Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, whitewashed streets, and Piazzas where you can take in fantastic shopping or just sit and watch the world go by in any of the authentic cafés, bars and restaurants. Granada, Seville, Cordoba, and Ronda, are also within easy reach, and boast the most wonderful architecture and views.
There are a number of small supermarkets in La Herrundura. Plus a fresh produce market open mon-fri mornings for fruit, vegetables, meat and fish which can be found on the sea front approx half way along opposite the raised wooden walk way.
More extensive shopping and large supermarkets can be found in Almunecar approx 4 miles East along the coast and Nerja approx 8 miles West.
Small local shops are normally open from 9-00 til 2-00 and 5-00 til 8-00, five days a week and Saturdays 9-00 til 1-00 only. Large supermarkets are normally open all day but can often be closed on Sundays.
There is also a good local market Friday mornings at Almunecar and another market in Nerja on Tuesday mornings.
The local town beach is sandy/stony but is excellent for swimming particularly towards the far Eastern end. Sandy beaches can also be found all along the coast with a particularly good one at Birriani beach on the outskirts of Nerja.
Guardia Civil ( Spanish Police can be found in Almunecar on the left hand side on the main road opposite the traffic lights). There are also Tourist police in most towns.
